The control board is constructed to command everything including the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the various sensors as well as the blower all in one unit. Your furnace or AC will not activate without the main control board in place and connected. The control board picked will need to be a match with your existing board and be compatible with the brand and the model of the unit in question. You should always be careful upon picking a replacement board due to the vast differences in models and types.
