The limit switch has a sensor in the air handler that decides when the air is actually warm enough for the main blower to kick in and circulate the air. One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.
