International Comfort Products PGMD60G1156 Transformer
A transformer is quite common in electrical appliances including your AC or furnace as it is used to convert electrical output to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. Heating and cooling transformers are specialized components and they should follow strict amps and voltages needed. When you have to replace a transformer in the system, be sure to replace it with one that is properly rated for the correct voltage that is demanded.
How can I tell if my transformer is about to stop working?
- Transformer shows cracks or fractures or you may see sparks white the system is on
- Different volts is found across the transformer
- Zero volts is measured from the output of the HVAC transformer while using a measuring device
