A basic electrical transformer is commonplace in many manufactured goods including heating and cooling systems as it converts a certain amount of electricity from 120V to 24V, for example. If a transformer needs replacing, it would be good to get one that is assessed for the right voltage value that is required. Transformers are specialized devices so be sure you replace it with the same amps and voltages needed.
Symptoms of a failing unit transformer
- Extremely low voltage gauged exiting the transformer block using a voltmeter
- Inexact volts can be measured stemming from the chief transformer
- The main transformer physically looks damaged or you might notice sparking while in use
