The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that will consistently detect the acceptable flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with any other safety sensor, when the sensor is triggered by an event the entire HVAC system will stop for as long as the problem remains.
Simple signals the International Comfort Products flame sensor has little life left
- HVAC system works intermittently barely
- Any type of gas that has entered the furnace refuses to try to begin igniting and closes the gas valve
- The heating system cannot begin working and produces an error code on the circuit board
