The flame sensor is a contraption that will reliable sense the exact flame when igniting the system. As with most safety features, when the flame sensor is activated the whole system stops until the problem is repaired.
Major clues of a weak safety flame sensor
- The furnace is unwilling to fire up and will shut everything down
- LP or natural gas has a tough time trying to begin igniting and the system throws an error code
- The whole system kicks in sometimes at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
