A transformer is used frequently in anything electrical including heating and cooling systems as it changes a normal current of electricity to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. Transformers can all be different and you must follow specific volts and amps requirements. If a transformer needs replacing, be sure to buy one properly assessed for the right voltage value that will be needed by the system.
Some clues your converting transformer has to be replaced
- Voltage transformer looks cracked or could smell like its burning while in use
- No volts calculated at the output of a main transformer block using a voltmeter
- Incorrect voltage is calculated across the system transformer
