A transformer is very common in many household goods including your HVAC system as it changes a normal current of electricity to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. If you need to replace one, make sure to purchase on that is rated for the voltage that you need replaced. Transformers are all different so make sure you meet the electrical requirements.
