The flame sensor is a contraption that will sense the appropriate flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. As with other safety devices, if the sensor goes off the furnace cannot start again for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Some warnings of a declining primary flame sensor
- The gas that has entered the furnace refuses to try to begin an ignition sequence and shut down
- The heat system will not generate heat and produces an error code on the circuit board
- The furnace will sometimes work infrequently barely
