The control board is made to oversee everything including the gas valve, the igniter, all the various sensors and the blower all in one unit. The HVAC system will be unable to run at all lest the circuit board is installed. A replacement board will have a part number that will match both the brand and model of the system you have installed. It is of utmost importance upon choosing a board as a replacement due to so many small differences in models and types.
