The flame sensor is a safety device that can reliably detect the flame during ignition. As with other safety devices, when the sensor is triggered by an event the whole HVAC system will remain stopped for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Signs your flame sensor should need replacing
- Your furnace is unwilling to produce heat and spits out an error code on the main board
- LP or natural gas will not ignite and the whole system shuts down
- HVAC system kicks in on certain occasions but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
