The defrost control board will begin the defrost cycle which may be necessary to remove frost build-up that may accumulate. The control board relies on a temperature sensor located near the condenser to make the decision on when the defrost cycle should begin.
Major signs to watch for in a bad AC defrost sensor board
- Defrost session has not run for a while even though there is a lot of frost on the outdoor unit
- Your system could not work for the simple fact of way too much frost build-up
- The main control board could display an error number if the defrost board fails
