An ignition control board governs gas flow, the igniter and all the flame sensing devices. It has been a very important safety feature that is now usually a standard part of the main board for safety reasons.
Clues to watch for in a failing main ignition board
- The on-signal from the primary thermostat never reaches the Lennox control board
- Heating and cooling system declines to commence when it receives a proper signal
- Any other device in the heating and cooling system is inspected and seems to be in fine condition
