The defrost sensor board commences the defrost cycle which actually helps to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost board is relayed information from a specific sensor located in the outdoor unit to make the decision on when the defrost cycle should begin.
Signs of a deteriorating defrost board
- The system may not run for the fact of the frost issue
- The main board could throw an error of some type referring to a failing defrost control board
- The defrost sequence does not begin despite the fact that there is quite a bit frost that needs to be removed
