The defrost control board will determine when to initiate the defrosting phase if necessary, to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost sensor board depends on a temperature sensor located somewhere by the condenser to decide when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Red flags the AC defrost sensor board will have to be replaced
- The system may stop running due in part to the fact that there is too much frost
- The main control board may throw a particular error code referring to a bad defrost board
- Self defrost sequence never begins especially when there is frost that makes the unit run like crap
