A transformer is used for many products which also includes your heating system as it is used to convert electrical output from a particular voltage to a different one. Transformers could have a certain criteria and you must follow specific electrical requirements. If you need to replace one, make sure to get one that is rated for the exact voltage that is needed.
Warnings to watch for in a failing transformer
- Incorrectly sized volts is determined across the chief transformer
- Voltage transformer looks as if it has melted slightly or maybe smokes while the system is turned on
- No volts exiting the system transformer using a voltmeter
