A flame sensor is one that will reliable sense the exact flame during ignition. As with most safety features, when the sensor is triggered by an event the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the problem is dealt with.
Key signs of an unhealthy flame sensor
- The heat system refuses to produce heat at all
- LP or natural gas will not properly ignite and the main board displays on error code
- System starts rarely when the time is right
