The defrost control board determines when to initiate the defrost sequence which helps to rid your unit of frost that can build up. The board relies on a sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to determine when to begin.
Major warnings the defrost sensor board will eventually need to be replaced
- Defrosting has not run for quite some time despite that there is a large amount frost in the way
- The AC may stop working because of lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
- The control board may throw an error of some type when the defrost control board refuses to initialize properly
