It is advised that the air filter is swapped out four times a year due to the filter clogging up and restricting the flow of air through the ducts. The filter may filter out all the dust and other particles from the air handler as well as the home. The size of the filter is not really a choice you make due to the constraint of the availability of room of your air handler.
