The defrost sensor board will determine when to initiate an important defrosting cycle which may be necessary to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The defrost board relies on a sensor located near the condenser to ascertain when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Major indications of a failing outdoor defrost sensor board
- Air conditioning may not operate at all because of way too much frost build-up
- The main circuit board may show an error code produced by a failing defrost board
- The defrost sequence never begins despite the fact that there is a lot of frost that needs to be removed
