The blade attached to the fan motor for the outdoor portion of a split system is in charge of dissipating the heat energy that is released. Due to the fact that the fan blades are unsupervised and out in the open they can wear out from one year to the next for a wide variety of reasons.
What red flags are there that my fan blade really needs to be replaced?
- The edges of the cooling blade are wavy or damaged in some way
- The fan looks potted or bent from the outside elements
- It looks out of balance as it spins around
