The main heat element makes the air heated up before being spread out throughout the house. Your furnace cannot produce any heat to properly heat the house if the heating element goes out.
Signs of an ailing heating element
- Lack of heat supplied by your HVAC system for an extended period of time
- Heat element appears worn out, dented and in dire need of replacing
- Furnace element refuses to heat up or not hot enough to generate heat due to its age
