A flame sensor is one of the safety features that can reliably detect the appropriate flame during ignition. Due to safety concerns, when the flame sensor gets triggered by something everything stops until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Signs the primary flame sensor will have to be replaced
- The propane or natural gas will not begin an ignition sequence and closes down
- The furnace will start on certain occasions when it thinks it should
- The furnace is unable to start operating no matter what
