A very basic thermistor is a certain type of resistor which has a resistance that is altered by the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. The main control board interprets the temperature in some specific areas of the system to do its job as it should. They inform the circuit board when the temperature reaches a certain point.
Major symptoms of an ineffective all-important thermister
- Primary blower may fail in the attempt to begin full speed blowing
- The whole HVAC system could possibly never start depending on which is the failed thermistor
