An ignition control board has control over the gas valve, the ignition sequence and the flame sensing circuits. It is an important circuit board that is usually a major component of the main board for the sake of being more efficient.

- The ignition system does not activate even when the thermostat kicks it on
- The on-signal from the remote thermostat does not show up at the control board
