The defrost control board commences the defrost cycle in order to remove frost build-up that may accumulate. The defrost board depends on a defrost sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to verify when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Clues to watch for to know your defrost board will eventually need to be replaced
- Your system could stop running due to the fact of the frost blocking the flow of air
- The main control board may signify an error code if the defrost board goes out
- Self defrost sequence does not begin even though there is a lot of frost built up
