The defrost sensor control board initiates the defrost cycle if necessary, to keep your outdoor unit from plugging up. The control board relies on a temperature sensor located in the outdoor unit to agree when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Some warnings the defrost sensor board will die soon
- The main circuit board may signify a particular error code if the defrost board fails
- Self defrost sequence will not kick in even though there is excessive frost on the unit
- Most systems will stop running due to lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
