The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that senses the exact flame while the system is starting. As with other safety devices, if the flame sensor is triggered everything comes to a halt until the problem is fixed.
How do you know if your safety flame sensor has to be replaced?
- The heating system will sometimes work occasionally when it feels like it
- The LP or natural gas will not properly ignite and closes the gas valve
- Your
system is unwilling to even start and completely shuts down
