Expansion valves are used in AC systems and permits the refrigerant to spread back into gas state from a liquid. The AC in a split system would not yield any cooled air if it were to lack a properly working expansion valve.
Chief elements of an ineffective AC expansion valve
- The outdoor AC unit takes too long to comfortably bring down the temperature
- The air conditioned air is definitely not as cold as you are accustomed to coming from the air handler
