The limit switch has a sensor located in the furnace that can determine if and when the air is actually warm enough for the main blower to kick in and circulate the air. Limit switches are crucial because if the warmed air is too cool then the house will never get warm enough.
Some warnings poorly running main limit switch
- The HVAC system will not begin the ignition sequence or continue to run longer that five minutes
- The system starts to run inconsistently more than once
