The fan motor on the compressor has a specific duty of cooling the outdoor compressor, when heat is removed from the house, that heat must be driven away. Please make sure you are able to buy one with the correct voltage listed as well as amperage as it is on the current motor. The unit may be replaced by itself without the fan blade, this tends to make installing it easier and reduce the price overall.
