The defrost sensor board determines when to initiate the defrost sequence in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The board is influenced by a defrost sensor located somewhere by the condenser to decide when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Signals of a poorly working defrost board
- The defrost feature has not run for a while even though there is a large amount of frost in the way
- Most systems will stop working for the fact of frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
- The main board could display a type of error code if the defrost board goes out
