The defrost sensor control board instructs the system to activate an important defrosting cycle which may be necessary to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The control board is influenced by a defrost sensor located somewhere by the condenser to make the decision on when to initiate the defrosting cycle.

- The primary control board might give out an error number referring to a failing defrost control board
- Defrost session will not kick in especially when there is a rather large amount of frost that needs to be removed
