The defrost control board will determine when to initiate the defrost sequence in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. It is relayed information from a defrost sensor located near the condenser to determine when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Major indications of a weak defrost board
- The defrost feature will not initiate even though there is a lot of frost built up
- The AC may end up not running due to the fact of too much frost
- The main circuit board may throw a type of error code produced by a bad defrost control board
