A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that will consistently detect the acceptable flame when the system starts. As expected, if the sensor produces an error everything remains shut off until the problem is repaired.
Key indicators that my safety flame sensor is dying?
- The furnace operates infrequently only
- Any type of gas that has entered the furnace has difficulty trying to ignite and the control shows an error
- The heat system is unwilling to start operating when you crank the thermostat up
