The primary blower wheel is a finned-type wheel that is used to produce an airflow throughout all the ducts. It is occasionally called a squirrel cage due to the slight resemblance to that of a hamster wheel. Whatever you want to call it, it is still a very necessary aspect of any system that needs a good amount of airflow.
Indications that the main blower wheel will eventually need to be replaced
- If a little piece of a fin has been wrecked and it does not spin correctly
- A rattling sound is heard as the system begins
- Suddenly less airflow from the system
