Nordyne Q6SD Transformer
A transformer is used frequently in anything electrical which includes your forced air system as it is used to convert electrical output usually from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. Heating and cooling transformers are specialized components so be sure you replace it with the same necessary voltage readings. When you have to replace a transformer in the system, be sure to replace it with one that is properly rated for the correct voltage that will be demanded by the device.
Major indications the transformer is going to die
- Extremely low voltage exiting a main transformer block while using a measuring device
- Incorrectly sized volts is measured from the output of the chief transformer
- The volt dropping transformer looks like it is ready to fall apart or perhaps smells funny while electricity is running through it
