The defrost sensor control board is jobbed with determining when to begin the defrosting phase which may be necessary to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost board is influenced by a defrost sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to ascertain when the defrost cycle should begin.
Key signs of a bad defrost board
- Air conditioning may not operate due to the safety features installed
- Defrost mode never begins even though there is a lot of frost on the unit
- The main control board may throw a type of error code when the defrost board fails
