It is sometimes referred to as a squirrel cage because of the noticeable resemblance to that of a hamster wheel. Major symptoms of a failing main blower wheel
- If a piece of the cage has been bent and seems unbalanced when it turns
- A thumping noise is audible as the HVAC begins
- Suddenly less airflow coming from the blower
