A basic electrical transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical including your HVAC system as it usually converts electricity to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. If you need a replacement, make sure you buy the one that is measured to the right voltage so that you get an exact match. Transformers can all be different and you should be aware of the specific volts called for with the original.
