The control board is constructed to direct the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the sensors and the blower all together. The HVAC system will be unable to be able to function unless this important circuit board is configured and seated properly. Be very careful when you choose a control board due to the vast differences in certain brands. The board you select will need to be a match with your existing board and be compatible with both the make and model of the unit in question.
Major clues to watch for in a bad control board
- The control board has to be reset a lot for the thermostat to kick in
- There may be some sort of code showing up somewhere on the board
- The unit does not operate period
