The control board is designed to command everything including the gas valve, the igniter, most sensors as well as the blower all together. The control board you choose should have part numbers that match both the make and model of your particular system. You should always be careful upon picking a replacement board due to differences in models and types.
Signs to watch for in a failing main circuit board
- When turned on, there is flashing code randomly appearing somewhere on the board
- Everything has to be powered down and back up quite a lot for the furnace or AC to kick on
- Entire unit does not initialize properly
