The defrost control board controls if and when to commence the defrost cycle which helps to defrost your outdoor unit. The board depends on a defrost sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to agree when the defrost cycle should begin.
Warnings to watch for in a bad defrost sensor board
- The defrost feature will not initiate especially when there is a rather large amount of frost on the external unit
- AC and heating system could not work due in part to the safety features installed
- The main board could signify an error of some type if the defrost board fails
