A normal limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that makes the determination if and when the air is warmed to a point that it can be circulated throughout the house. One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.
