Payne PH3ZNA042000AA Flame Sensor
The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that can reliably detect the appropriate flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. Due to safety concerns, if the sensor generated a error everything remains shut off until the main issue is remedied.
Major indications to watch for in a failing safety flame sensor
- The heating system turns on on certain occasions when it feels like it
- The gas furnace refuses to produce any heat and will shut everything down
- The gas entering the furnace finds it impossible to start an ignition sequence no matter what you do
