Payne PY1PNB036090 Ignition Control Board
The main reason to have an ignition control board is that it manages gas intake, the igniter and the flame sensing circuits. The ignition control board was always an important safety device that, over the years, has merged to become a standard part of the main board instead of having two separate boards.
What red flags are there that my chief ignition control board is crapping out?
- Heating and cooling system does not kick in when called upon
- Every other device within the heating and AC system is inspected and seems to be in good health
- Initial communication from the thermostat does not show up at the control board
