The filter in the wall unit is responsible for removing microscopic dust and other tiny bits as it is being forced through the system. This can both protect the unit and make it operate more efficient while also filtering the air in your home. Because of the nature of filtering air, the filter should be simply replaced or perhaps washed every so often depending on how much you use it.
Easy warnings the primary air filter should be replaced
- Manufacturers have advised to swap out your air filter every three months to keep the unit running efficiently
- When you hold it up, the light is unable to infiltrate to the opposite side of a dirty filter
- The main filter looks gray or brown and it would be a good idea to replace it right now
