A flame sensor is a regulatory sensor that will reliable sense the exact flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. Because of the safety issues involved, if the flame sensor is triggered the system will halt until the problem is repaired.
Important clues to watch for in a bad RCA flame sensor
- The main type of gas cannot begin igniting and the system throws an error code
- The furnace refuses to generate heat when you have it set to
- The entire heating system will kind of run occasionally at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
