The defrost sensor control board initiates the defrost cycle which may be needed in order to keep your outdoor unit from plugging up. The board relies on a sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to ascertain when to begin.
How do you know when your defrost sensor board is dying?
- The primary control board may throw an error of some type produced by too much frost
- Self defrost sequence has not run for a while especially when there is frost built up
- The system will stop running because of the safety features installed
