The furnace vent motor is intended to disperse air and harmful gases out of the furnace. Some companies call it a draft inducer blower, as it supplies proper draft for a much more purer and much safer gas combustion.A vent blower, aka draft inducer, is just one of a great many safety features on your system.
Major clues of a bad vent fan
- The main air circulating motor never does get the chance to circulate air like it should
- The draft inducer does not kick in at the beginning of the startup sequence
- Electricity is supplied to the draft inducing motor yet the motor still refuses to run
